AFGHAN-AMERICANS CONDEMN TERRORIST ATTACKS AGAINST THE U.S.
(12-Sep-01) The Afghan-American community is in utter shock and complete disbelief to see the ugly face of terror and barbarianism -one that has brought death and destruction to the innocent civilians of Afghanistan for years - now show its' face on American soil. The magnitude of the acts of terror carried out against our fellow American citizens and our financial and defense centers far exceed our comprehension, imagination and our ability to express our sorrow in words.
We Afghan-Americans recall entering the United States in the 1980's captivated by the beauty of the World Trade Center twin towers, and upon a visit as tourists, inspired by the gifted professionals that filled their offices. A number of members of our community and personal friends found work in the same buildings that fell victim to the most backward and barbaric elements of humanity. Today, we feel the sorrow and pain of the victims' families who are mourning the loss of their loved ones. We express our solidarity and unity with our nation, the light of civilization, and all American citizens who bear the torch of progress and liberty.
At this moment of unspeakable tragedy we mourn the loss of innocent lives, we express our heartfelt solidarity with the families of the victims, and we offer prayers for the safe rescue of those still trapped under the debris. As we understand that evil forces, in a cowardly and cold-blooded scheme, have attacked our nation, we stand united with all citizens of the world in condemning the terrorist actions on the US soil.
