Please join us for "A Conversation on War, Terrorism, Human Rights, and Religion," with invited guests Professor Majid Rahnema, Hekmat "Miro" Sadat, and Flouran Wali. Following our conversation we will be reviewing a video on Afghan women.

About the Speakers:
A career ambassador for much of his life, Majid Rahnema represented Iran at the United Nations for 12 successive sessions. Among the many posts he held were UN Commissioner for Rwanda and Burundi, Member of the Executive Board of UNESCO, and Minister of Education for Iran. He is currently teaching at Pitzer College and is the author of many books, including his most recent, The Post-development Reader, which offers a critical perspective on development ideology and practices around the world.
Hekmat Sadat is the Senior Writer for AfghanMagazine.Com and The Afghan Mosaic. He is a Ph.D. Candidate in Economics/Education at Claremont Graduate University. His educational background is in economics and his current interest is on the Pakistani Connection in Afghanistan Past and Future.
Flouran Wali is the Director of Human Clinic with Doctors of the World. She is an active member of the Afghan community of Southern California. She is the founder and chairperson of the Afghan Women Organization of San Diego. As an Afghan native, she works collaboratively with the Feminist Majority Foundation and United Nations Association of San Diego by frequently speaking to organizations regarding human rights issues in Afghanistan.
